Eastwood

The former coal mining town of Eastwood, Nottinghamshire, was the home of novelist, DH Lawrence, and the birthplace of the Midland Railway.

Now a very different place, Eastwood is a market town situated on the county border close to Nottingham and Derby. The surrounding area is rich in agricultural land, woodland and gentle rolling countryside. The attractive Erewash Canal, that leads to the River Trent, runs through Eastwood.

Eastwood has a range of homes, from terraced homes to modern estates. Many of the streets are tree-lined and the town is attractive and well kept. The Buildings housing estate, which once provided terraced cottage homes for 300 miners, was built in the 1860s and has been successfully preserved. With the M1 nearby, there are excellent road links, and Eastwood is just a short distance from East Midlands Airport. Mainline Langley Mill rail station is minutes away.
