The small mid Devon village of Uffculme is situated on the River Culm in the Blackdown Hills, close to the M5 motorway.

The original Coldharbour Mill building was a corn or grist mill, and the Domesday survey listed a mill on the site since medieval times. The Georgian listed Coldharbour Mill building, with its tall polygonal stack, was the last woollen mill to operate in Uffculme, and is now a working museum. Bradfield House, to the south of Uffculme, is an impressive grade I listed Elizabethan manor house and one of the largest mansion houses in Devon.

Uffculme was highlighted in a 2008 TV series which followed the setting up of Willie’s Cacao factory, one of the first such makers of cacao since Cadbury.
