Fremington is a large village in North Devon located 3 miles from Barnstaple and home to many interesting landmarks. These include Fremington House – a early Georgian red-brick mansion that was formerly a manor house built by Richard II Acland.
Half a mile north of the village lies Fremington Quay which was once a bustling port and significant in the importing and exporting of many goods including coal and ball clay. It is believed that between the early to mid-twentieth century Fremington Quay, based on tonnage, was the busiest port between Bristol and Land’s End.
