The Derbyshire village of Swanwick is in the Amber Valley, and sits midway between Chesterfield and Derby. Swanwick has excellent ties to the transport network and has its own railway station.

Swanwick dates back to 1304 and listed buildings in the village include Swanwick Hall School, which was once a house. The original villa was built in 1771, with extensions built in the 1930s to include classrooms and a courtyard. The Church of St Andrew in Swanwick was built in 1859 on land donated by Revd John Wood, who later resided at Swanwick Hall.
