Birchington-on-Sea dates from the 13th century, as does All Saint’s Church. Known then as Birchenton, the name derived from the Old English 'bircen tun' meaning farm of birch trees. There are 4 beaches – Minnis Bay (where an Iron age fort was built), Grenham Bay, Beresford Gap and Epple Bay. Notable buildings include Quex House which is Grade II listed.
