Carbon Monoxide Alarms in Buildings Regulations become Law

The published part J Approved Document (AD J) requires a carbon monoxide alarm to be fitted in the same room as a new or replacement fixed solid fuel heating appliance.

It took effect on 1st October 2010 in England and Wales.

Under the Approved Document, the Carbon Monoxide alarm may be hard wired or battery powered to comply.  (Hard wired is the preferred option).
