{"id":326,"date":"2009-12-30T00:03:41","date_gmt":"2009-12-29T23:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?p=326"},"modified":"2010-01-08T22:19:50","modified_gmt":"2010-01-08T21:19:50","slug":"housing-federations-hope-glebe-lands-will-be-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?p=326","title":{"rendered":"Housing Feds. hope more Glebe lands sold"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Housing Federations hope a greater amount Glebe lands will be released.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"The National Housing Federation\" href=\"http:\/\/www.housing.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Housing Federation <\/a>hopes that their research into the rural housing\u00c2\u00a0shortage will\u00c2\u00a0inspire\u00c2\u00a0the release of Glebe Lands by the Church of England.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Church of England owns in the region of 129,000 acres and\u00c2\u00a0if just a small portion of the land held in rural villages up and down the country was\u00c2\u00a0released for development to housing associations, as much as 10% of the housing shortage could be alleviated according to the NHF&#8217;s research.<\/p>\n<p>If the land was\u00c2\u00a0sold on the open market with a prospect of normal development, these lands would, however, be that much more valuable to the church and provide a greater level of funds to maintain and improve the historic buildings in their control.\u00c2\u00a0 This land is\u00c2\u00a0often\u00c2\u00a0situated close to the centre of villages and\u00c2\u00a0these could often be considered\u00c2\u00a0to be prime\u00c2\u00a0locations for developers.\u00c2\u00a0 Much of this land also comprises graveyards or land earmarked for graveyard expansion.<\/p>\n<p>Every village and location has different considerations and the Local Church Diocese has individual requirements and land resources to\u00c2\u00a0manage.\u00c2\u00a0 Should individual development locations need consideration, such as development proposals or valuations, we recomend consulting your local independent Chartered Surveyor with <a title=\"Locate Independent Chartered Surveyors\" href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">www.propertysurveying.co.uk<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Housing Federations hope a greater amount Glebe lands will be released.
