This is closely followed by the Boroughs of<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/LONDON\/Westminster.html\">Westminster<\/a> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">and<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/LONDON\/Hammersmithandfulham.html\">Hammersmith and Fulham<\/a>, <span style=\"color: #000000;\">with prices of \u00c2\u00a38,925 and \u00c2\u00a37,804.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">These figures are in stark contrast with the rest of the country, the most expensive areas in the North being Altrincham, Cheshire where values are \u00c2\u00a32,227psm, followed by Edinburgh, Scotland at \u00c2\u00a32,214.\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The least expensive area in Britain on the \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcper square metre\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 basis have been revealed as Stanley, County Durham, where homebuyers pay, on average, \u00c2\u00a3818psm. This was followed by Pontypool, South Wales and Wishaw, Scotland, at \u00c2\u00a3902 and \u00c2\u00a3925psm respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcper square metre\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 basis is becoming an ever more common method for gathering valuation statistics for a particular area and is calculated by dividing the average house price in each area by the average property size for the area. \u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mortgages Director of Halifax, Craig McKinlay explains:\u00c2\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;<em>House price per square metre is a useful measure for house price comparison because it helps to adjust for differences in the size and type of properties between locations\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The property market is awash with interesting and rapidly changing statistics in this time of high growth.
