{"id":725,"date":"2010-05-26T16:08:18","date_gmt":"2010-05-26T15:08:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=725"},"modified":"2015-10-13T08:26:48","modified_gmt":"2015-10-13T08:26:48","slug":"coalition-government-property-proposals","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=725","title":{"rendered":"Coalition Government Property Proposals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Coalition Government has issued a list of things they plan to do while in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Some of this agenda will directly affect property.\u00c2\u00a0 These include:<\/p>\n<p>The ending of the ban on tenants starting home businesses, which is in line with other measures to help small enterprises.\u00c2\u00a0 Does this mean that this will be carried out by statute?\u00c2\u00a0 Will statutory tenancies automatically have the covenant removed?\u00c2\u00a0 Will periodic tenancies (typically Assured Shorthold Tenancies under the Housing Act 1988) wait until they are renewed and then the clause\u00c2\u00a0be removed?<\/p>\n<p>On the energy and environment front, they want to install smart meters in homes, promote and support renewable energy sources for generation of electricity, and through their &#8220;Green Deal&#8221;, will encourage energy efficiency in homes and business premises, including government buildings.<\/p>\n<p>The promised suspension of HIPs has already happened as was proposed by the Conservatives and reported last year (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=257\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a> to see Article).
