The scheme allows the engineers to certify their own work through one of the schemes approved operators, without having to notify the building control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, in 2012 the Department for Communities and Local Government introduced new requirements, where all scheme operators are required to achieve United Kingdom Accreditation Service accreditation so that they can continue to approve engineers and businesses under the scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Some requir<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-4931\" src=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCN0304-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"Competent Persons can reliably work on boilers\" width=\"212\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCN0304-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCN0304-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 212px) 85vw, 212px\" \/><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">ements remain the same: the initial assessment of qualifications and insurance still stands, as does onsite inspections, however there are a number of new requirements that scheme providers <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">must<\/span> adhere to in order to continue on the Scheme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Examples of the current requirements include:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">-\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Establish and publish scheme rules, including its application and certification processes and fee structure (on the company website as a minimum)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">-\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Assess existing members and applicants as technically competent, against National Occupational Standards (NOS) under a Minimum Technical Competence (MTC) assessment procedure where one is in place for the relevant type(s) of work (including on-site inspection).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">-\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Maintain a robust and publicised complaints procedure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">-\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 Arrange to provide customers with appropriate financial protection to put work to dwellings right, which is non-compliant with the Building Regulations, where the original installer cannot do so.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-4932\" src=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSCN0315-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Competent electricians can reliably work on Electrics\" width=\"238\" height=\"190\" \/>The Association of Plumbing &amp;
