These obstacles are typically mundane objects of the built environment (houses, buildings, fences, ramps etc.) The discipline uses no equipment. A male practitioner is generally called a &#8220;traceur&#8221;, a female a &#8220;traceuse&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Parkour hit the news in Russia recently, when a 24 year old girl fell 17 storeys to her death on her very first lesson. Other news stories have focused on the damage caused by practitioners, particularly to the vulnerable roofs of the buildings they climb and jump on.
