PropertySurveying.co.uk<\/a> – Parkour<\/b> is a training discipline that developed out of military obstacle course training.<\/p>\n

Practitioners aim to move from one place to another, negotiating the obstacles in between. These obstacles are typically mundane objects of the built environment (houses, buildings, fences, ramps etc.) The discipline uses no equipment. A male practitioner is generally called a “traceur”, a female a “traceuse”.<\/p>\n

Parkour hit the news in Russia recently, when a 24 year old girl fell 17 storeys to her death on her very first lesson. Other news stories have focused on the damage caused by practitioners, particularly to the vulnerable roofs of the buildings they climb and jump on. Even small amounts of damage can create problems, frequently allowing moisture ingress by creating gaps in the tiling or breaking off parts of mortar joints.<\/p>\n
