Proposed changes announced to leasehold flats<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Following a plan dropped by the previous government, Labour has announced its intention to ban outright the sale of new leasehold flats in England and Wales by 2029, making commonhold the default tenure.<\/p>\n

Leasehold houses will not be affected by the changes.<\/p>\n

The Home Builders Federation (HBF) has expressed significant apprehension over the government’s proposed Building Safety Levy.\u00a0Over 100 housebuilders have jointly signed a letter, in which the HBF terms the levy as \u201cnakedly anti-development.\u201d<\/p>\n

Promised \u00a32 billion house building boost<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Chancellor\u2019s first budget resulted in a slowed down economy, tax increases, job losses and extra borrowing with, it seems, more doom and gloom to come as its effects on employers take effect. Six months later, based on the Office for Budget Responsibility\u2019s optimistic view of public finances, the March Spring Statement promised measures to kick start the property market to fulfil the government\u2019s promise of building 1.5 million new homes over the next five years.<\/p>\n

“Residents’ parking” leaves residents up in arms<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Until recently, Tors Road was the only remaining road in the small but busy coastal village of Lynmouth, North Devon, which had no parking restrictions. The council’s solution to the complaint of one person has left other residents unhappy.<\/p>\n
