Monthly index (where January 2015 = 100) 152.0<\/p>\n<p>The average house price in the UK was \u00a32,000 more than a year ago, at \u00a3290,000, but \u00a32,000 lower than November 2022&#8217;s peak figure.\u00a0House prices have increased the greatest in the North East at 2.7% over twelve months, compared to 1.0% in the South West over the same period.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bank of England, the more stable prices seen over recent months are the result of weaker demand and stronger supply.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.halifax.co.uk\/media-centre\/house-price-index\/\">Halifax<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UK average house price = \u00a3279,569, -1.9% in the month, -1.2% in the quarter, -4.6% in the year. Monthly index (where January 1992 = 100) 482.1<\/p>\n<p>The Halifax reported another monthly decline in average house prices, with the typical UK home now costing \u00a3279,569 (down \u00a314,000 from the August 2022 peak, but around \u00a340,000 or 17% higher than before Covid).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightmove.co.uk\/news\/house-price-index\/\">Rightmove<\/a><\/p>\n<p>National average house asking price = \u00a3366,281, 0.4% in the month and -0.4% in the year.<\/p>\n<p>Rightmove reported that a third of properties for sale had been reduced in price by an average \u00a322,700 (6.2%) nationally, suggesting that sellers were asking too much for their properties.<\/p>\n<p>There were 12% more homes for sale in September than the usually quieter month of August.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationwidehousepriceindex.co.uk\/reports\/august-sees-further-weakness-in-house-prices\">Nationwide<\/a><\/p>\n<p>UK average house price = \u00a3259,153, -0.8% change in the month and -0.3% decrease in the year.<\/p>\n<p>House price growth is at the weakest rate since July 2009, and mortgage approvals down 20% from the 2019 average. At regional and country levels, new buyer enquiries over August showed a firmly negative return.<\/p>\n<p>House prices are falling in most areas of the UK. Although the housing market is likely to be subdued over the next twelve months, it is then expected to flatten out.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast, the lettings market remains strong with further demand from tenants for rental accommodation. As landlord instructions continue to fall, rental prices are likely to rise further over the next three months.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\">Rightmove.co.uk is the UKs leading property website, displaying details of homes for sale or rent to the largest online audience. It is consistently ranked the number one property website in the UK (source: Experian Hitwise). It has around 90% of all properties for sale and at any time displays a stock of over one million properties to buy or rent, worth around \u00a3270 billion.
