\"policeThe fictional countryside home of one of television’s most famous criminals, the notorious Tommy Shelby, has been listed for sale on Rightmove, by order of the Peaky Blinders!<\/p>\r\n

The hit TV show returned to our screens for a fifth series at the end of August, and some fans might recognise the grand four bedroom mews house in Cheshire. The period property forms part of the private courtyard attached to the building which serves as Tommy Shelby\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s on screen Warwickshire country home, Arrow House.<\/p>\r\n

The stunning family home has been pivotal to Peaky Blinders scenes since filming began for the third series in March 2017 (check out the property’s film booklet<\/a> here).<\/p>\r\n

The owner of the mews house at Arley Hall, Mr Wardhaugh, has lived in the property for 20 years but now wishes to sell for approximately \u00c2\u00a3600,000. The original lease was for 125 years and there are 95 years remaining.<\/p>\r\n

He said: “They shoot scenes right outside my living room window and sometimes I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m within yards of the action. They usually film here for approximately a month at a time and the place is like its own little village; it’s quite a spectacle.<\/p>\r\n

“I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not convinced the filming has added too much value to the house as some people won\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t be fans of the show, but for people who are, it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s great.”<\/p>\r\n

Arley Hall has a lot of history attached to it. The property is a Grade II-listed building and was constructed in the mid 1800s. The Estate has been in the Ashbrook family for over 500 years.\u00c2\u00a0 In 1986, the mews property was created when the Estate re-established the main Arley Hall courtyard by linking four new houses to the original older properties, including the West Gables section which was once the Grade II-listed former estate laundry.<\/p>\r\n

The building wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t used much until series three of Peaky Blinders when the lead character, Tommy Shelby, finds himself embroiled in gangland warfare during the Depression of 1920s Britain. During this time, Tommy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s entire organisation and his family’s wellbeing is put at risk and they spend more time \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcat home\u00e2\u20ac\u2122. The library of Arley Hall became Tommy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s study, while the gallery doubled as the Shelby\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s dining hall.<\/p>\r\n

Some alterations were made for filming, with bespoke portraits, retro 1920s furniture and repainting of some walls to fit in with the period but these alterations are changed when filming is not being carried out.<\/p>\r\n

When filming is going on, scenes can run well into the night with actors practising their lines and horses stamping outside. The mansion will feature heavily in the current series so it is fortunate that the property’s current owners enjoy the hustle and bustle!<\/p>\r\n

Rightmove’s Miles Shipside said that fans of Peaky Blinders “will really enjoy looking around this home” and it seems likely that fans of the show will visit the property without any intention of buying it, but rather to see where some of the show is filmed.<\/p>\r\n
