{"id":20930,"date":"2018-11-20T15:00:28","date_gmt":"2018-11-20T14:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=20930"},"modified":"2018-11-22T12:24:01","modified_gmt":"2018-11-22T11:24:01","slug":"homes-england-disrupts-housing-market","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=20930","title":{"rendered":"Homes England disrupts housing market"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20965 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans-1024x224.jpg\" alt=\"Building plans\" width=\"840\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans-1024x224.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans-300x66.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans-768x168.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans-1200x263.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/wp-content\/uploads\/building-plans.jpg 1279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 1362px) 62vw, 840px\" \/>The government&#8217;s &#8216;housing accelerator&#8217;, the non-departmental national agency, Homes England, has published its five-year\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/752686\/Homes_England_Strategic_Plan_AW_REV_150dpi_REV.pdf\">Strategic Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The strategy describes how the government, working in partnership with all elements of the housing industry, plans to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>unlock public and private land;<\/li>\n<li>ensure investment products to support housebuilding and infrastructure;<\/li>\n<li>improve housebuilding productivity;<\/li>\n<li>establish market resilience;<\/li>\n<li>deliver high-quality homeownership products; and<\/li>\n<li>support local areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>London, where housing delivery is already largely devolved, is the only area of England not covered in the plan.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman, Sir Edward Lister, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Ultimately, we need to disrupt the\u00c2\u00a0housing market.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That is why\u00c2\u00a0 government has\u00c2\u00a0established Homes England and\u00c2\u00a0we are already striking bold\u00c2\u00a0deals and forming new types\u00c2\u00a0 of innovative partnerships to shake\u00c2\u00a0up housing delivery.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is just the start. This five-year\u00c2\u00a0strategic plan sets out our\u00c2\u00a0ambitious new mission and the\u00c2\u00a0steps we will take with industry to\u00c2\u00a0respond to the long-term housing\u00c2\u00a0challenges facing this country.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We plan to be bold, creative and\u00c2\u00a0think big. We hope the whole of the\u00c2\u00a0housing sector \u00e2\u20ac\u201c big and small, up\u00c2\u00a0and down the country \u00e2\u20ac\u201c will join us\u00c2\u00a0for the next five years and beyond.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The plan details recent deals in which progress has already been made, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>land acquisitions in Plymouth and Sussex;<\/li>\n<li>a \u00c2\u00a31 billion lending alliance with Barclays which will support smaller builders;<\/li>\n<li>a joint venture with Kier&#8217;s residential arm;<\/li>\n<li>strategic partnerships with housing associations; and<\/li>\n<li>infrastructure-led major developments at <a href=\"https:\/\/ebbsfleetdc.org.uk\/\">Ebbsfleet<\/a> in Kent, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daedaluswaterfront.co.uk\/welcome\">Daedalus<\/a> on the Solent and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northstowe.com\/\">Northstowe<\/a> in Cambridgeshire.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of \u00c2\u00a3653 million in funding will be secured by the new partnerships from the Affordable Homes Programme, aiming to provide an additional 13,475 affordable homes by 2022.
