\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The village isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t big enough for both of us,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d claims Margie Hanley, of Cornamona, County Galway.<\/p>\n

Mrs Hanley has appealed to the Family Division of the High Court in London in an attempt to settle her claim over the property she and her estranged husband, Michael, have used for holidays and Christmas.\u00c2\u00a0 The couple jointly own the house, which they had built, and have extended it over the years.\u00c2\u00a0 Mr Hanley said it has \u00e2\u20ac\u0153excellent views\u00e2\u20ac\u009d.<\/p>\n

Both are Irish but have lived in Europe, the Far East and the United States because of Mr Hanley\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s work.\u00c2\u00a0 However, now that he is retired, Mr Hanley has said he wants to live in Cornamona, saying: \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I like to fish, I like to walk, I play guitar, I like to cook, I like to read, I like to meditate.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n

Mrs Hanley claims \u00e2\u20ac\u0153ancestral rivalry\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and indeed her 92-year-old mother is now the village\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s oldest living resident, and generations of her family have lived there.\u00c2\u00a0 She said life was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153much simpler\u00e2\u20ac\u009d in Cornamona, describing it as \u00e2\u20ac\u0153one-horse town\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with a single road in and out, one shop, one pub, and a visit from the doctor just once a week.<\/p>\n

The couple have adult children and, while the judge raised the possibility of the pair using the property during different periods during the year, Mrs Hanley has continued to live in Wentworth, Surrey, claiming that her former husband was \u00e2\u20ac\u0153just torturing\u00e2\u20ac\u009d her.<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153He is just punishing me,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d she says, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s where I started out.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s where I ended.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
