{"id":15027,"date":"2016-03-14T17:11:17","date_gmt":"2016-03-14T17:11:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=15027"},"modified":"2016-07-27T13:13:31","modified_gmt":"2016-07-27T13:13:31","slug":"new-legislation-set-protect-uk-music-venues-planning-law","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=15027","title":{"rendered":"New legislation set to protect UK music venues in planning law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As of 6<sup>th<\/sup> April 2016 new legislation will be enforced in a bid to protect the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s music venues from planning law.<\/p>\n<p>The Music Venue Trust says:<br \/>\n<em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Local planning authorities will have to consider noise impacts on new residents from existing businesses under an amended permitted development right.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In recent years, permitted development rights have been extended, allowing certain developments and changes of use to take place without the requirement to go through the full planning system.<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of this new legislation is set to prevent residents of such developments complaining of noise from adjoining venues that were there long beforehand. It is thought that London alone has lost 35% of its grassroots music venues since 2007, many are likely to be as a result of noise complaints.<\/p>\n<p>Explained further by the Music Venue Trust:<br \/>\n<em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The new regulations mean developers are now required to seek prior approval on noise impacts before a change of use from an office to residential building can be carried out.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mark Davyd of Music Venue Trust says:<br \/>\n<em>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153We warmly welcome this breakthrough for the UK\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s grassroots music venues.
