{"id":14423,"date":"2015-12-22T12:28:41","date_gmt":"2015-12-22T12:28:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=14423"},"modified":"2016-02-02T12:05:48","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T12:05:48","slug":"confiscation-order-served-concerning-illegal-hoxton-flats-one-of-the-biggest-ever","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/newsletter\/?page_id=14423","title":{"rendered":"Confiscation order served concerning illegal Hoxton flats one of the biggest ever"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having built an illegal six-storey block of flats in London, sole director of Garland Development Limited Mr Yusuf Sarodia has been served with a substantial \u00c2\u00a3700,000 confiscation order, thought to be one of the biggest ever in relation to a planning offence.<\/p>\n<p>The case dates back to 2011, when Hackney Council first served an enforcement notice in relation to the property \u00e2\u20ac\u201c having discovered its illegal nature. Last month, the company\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s director was sentenced for the offence of failing to demolish the property, with the Local Authority also bringing proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act to execute the confiscation order.<\/p>\n<p>Having successfully confirmed the \u00c2\u00a3700,000 order, Hackney Council will receive one third, with this sum reinvested in planning enforcement.
