According to Savills, over the past two years the picturesque village near Guildford has seen 42 homes sold for over \u00c2\u00a31 million.<\/h3>\n<p>The village, which boasts a private sports club, very good schools and nearby golf courses has seen a 17% increase in the sale price of an average home, which is now \u00c2\u00a31,006,304.<\/p>\n<p>Other villages that make Savills top 10 list of where the most \u00c2\u00a31 million homes are sold include, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/HERTFORDSHIRE\/Chorleywood.html\">Chorleywood<\/a> in Hertfordshire (34), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.propertysurveying.co.uk\/GREATERMANCHESTER\/Bowdon.html\">Bowdon<\/a> in Greater Manchester (27) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alderleyedgesurveyor.co.uk\/\">Alderley Edge<\/a> in Cheshire (24). The latter is a village famed for being home to a number of professional footballers over the years, including David Beckham, Rio Ferdinand and Cristiano Ronaldo, all of whom have played at Manchester United located just 12 miles away.<\/p>\n<p>Three villages in Buckinghamshire make the list; Knotty Green, Stoke Poges and Farnham Common, with 27, 19 and 19 \u00c2\u00a31 million pound properties being sold over the last two years respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Completing the top 10 are the villages of Hale in Greater Manchester, Brookmans Park in Hertfordshire and Cookham in Berkshire.<\/p>\n<p>Associate Director at Savills, Sophie Chick explains:<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve actually found that since the credit crunch villages on the whole have\u00c2\u00a0under performed\u00c2\u00a0their\u00c2\u00a0neighbouring towns and cities\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6because there has been a marked preference for living within an urban environment, closer to a work place, resulting in affluent UK cities and towns outperforming their neighbouring villages and rural locations in the housing market\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>She goes on to explain:<\/p>\n<p>\u00e2\u20ac\u0153<em>This means villages now represent good value and there is a currently good buying opportunity\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/em><em>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you are considering purchasing a property in any of the villages mentioned above or anywhere else in England and Wales, be it worth \u00c2\u00a31 million or not, do not hesitate to contact a local Chartered Surveyor for expert advice.
