The property market fact file is a collection of data compiled each month by our chartered surveyors and the team, collating survey data, statistics and related trends and information from the building and property market. This will help many persons with an interest in property to gain an accurate view of what is happening in the property market as a whole in the UK.

“Neighbours from Hell” face swifter Eviction
The Government has announced that it is making the process of eviction for Neighbours from Hell quicker. At present, the courts have to prove the Neighbour as guilty of Anti-Social Behaviour via one conviction and then have to go to court to establish that this earlier conviction constitutes reasonable grounds to obtain a possession order. Grant Shapps has announced that this process is to be streamlined.

New Incentives to Tackle the Blight of Empty Homes
Communities Minister Andrew Stunell has set out how local people can bring back into use empty homes that attract anti-social behaviour and cause misery for neighbours.

Housebuilder’s Results January 2011
UK Housebuilders City announcements suggest that the market for new homes is more stable. With average prices of sales up, volumes of sales up, land banks increased and debt down, many of the main players are cautiously optimistic. Even Bovis says it will be paying a dividend.

Furnished Holiday Lets’ Tax Allowance to end soon.
Tax allowances worth thousands of pounds are going unclaimed by owners of Furnished Holiday Lets. Claims must be made by 5th April 2011, which is when the government are planning to close the door on it.

Surge in Rural Homelessness
Homelessness is rising twice as fast in rural areas as in towns and cities, according to campaigners who warned that the Government’s cuts were hitting the countryside hardest.

Empty Commercial Property and Rates
It has been reported in the press that there has been a 39 percent increase in the amount charities are claiming for tax relief against business rates. The total rose to almost a £1bn pa of tax relief by March 2010 according to the treasury.

The International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) has designated Sark as one of the world’s best places to see the night-sky. It is the first island in the select few places throughout the world with this award.
