Kirkby Lonsdale

Kirkby Lonsdale is a small town located in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria and has many notable buildings. These include St Mary’s Church, a Norman structure with a view towards the River Lune that is known as Ruskin’s View as he described it as “one of the loveliest views in England”.

The town is renowned for the Devil’s Bridge which is a gritstone ashlar construction built around 1370 and was once responsible for carrying the Skipton to Kendal road.

Today, Kirkby Lonsdale contains a mix of 18th century buildings and stone houses surrounding cobbled courtyards. It also hosts a bustling weekly market and has many local events and traditional commercial properties.
