Cranbrook is a small town - said to be the smallest town in Kent - whose name is derived from the Old English for Crane Marsh. St Dunstan's Church is called the Cathedral of the Weald, and has a 74ft high tower. There were once 17 watermills in Cranbrook and 4 windmills. The Union Mill has been restored, is a Grade I listed building, and is the tallest smock mill in the UK.
