Sturry village lies on the Great Stour river which runs through the adjoining hamlet of Fordwich. The Parish church of St Nicholas is a Grade I listed Norman building, and serves the surrounding villages of Westbere and Hersden. The area has been settled for at least 430,000 years, as evidenced by flint knives and arrowheads found here.
